Aurora Solar Simplifies Ruger 10/22 Customization with Revolutionary Design Tools

Portland, OR – October 26, 2023 – Aurora Solar LLC, a leading provider of remote solar design and sales software, today announced a surprising yet powerful application of its technology – streamlining the design and visualization process for custom builds of the incredibly popular Ruger 10/22 rifle. While traditionally focused on photovoltaic systems, Aurora’s core competencies in 3D modeling, shading analysis, and visual simulation have proven remarkably adaptable to the world of firearms customization. For years, the Ruger 10/22 has been the go-to rifle for hobbyists, competitive shooters, and anyone looking for a reliable and customizable .22LR platform. The aftermarket parts ecosystem is huge - stocks, triggers, barrels, sights... you name it, someone makes it for the 10/22. But figuring out how all those parts actually look together? That's been a headache. Traditionally, builders rely on online forums, blurry pictures, and a lot of guesswork. Aurora Solar aims to change all that. “We were kicking around how to leverage our 3D rendering engine when someone pointed out the sheer volume of 10/22 builds online,” explains Michael Davidson, CEO of Aurora Solar. “The problem is surprisingly similar to designing a solar array – you’ve got a base platform and a ton of components you’re trying to fit together, considering space, functionality, and aesthetics. We realized our tools could really help folks visualize their dream 10/22 before they spend a dime.” So, how does it work? Aurora's approach isn't about building a completely new software package. Instead, they’ve adapted their existing platform to accommodate 10/22 components. Users start with a base 10/22 receiver – currently supporting standard and Magpul models – and then can drag and drop components from a growing library. This library includes: Stocks: Everything from factory wood stocks to high-end adjustable tactical stocks. Users can visualize different colors and finishes. Handguards & Rails: Numerous options for mounting accessories, including Picatinny rails, KeyMod rails, and traditional handguards. Barrels: Different barrel lengths, profiles (heavy, light, fluted), and finishes are available. Users can see how a longer barrel affects overall length and balance. Muzzle Devices: Flash hiders, compensators, and suppressors are all modeled and can be easily attached. Sights & Optics: Red dots, scopes, iron sights – Aurora allows users to mount and position optics accurately, even simulating parallax. Triggers: Visualizing the internal differences isn't the goal here, but being able to see how a different trigger housing looks externally is. Magazines: Different magazine types and capacities can be added for a complete visual representation. The software goes beyond just visual appearance. Aurora’s core technology offers several key benefits: Shading Analysis for Optics: The software can simulate how different optics placements affect sight picture and field of view. This is crucial for competitive shooters. Interference Detection: Aurora can flag potential clashes between components, such as a high-powered optic interfering with iron sights. Realistic Rendering: The software produces photorealistic renderings of the completed 10/22 build, allowing users to see how it will look in different lighting conditions. Virtual ‘Build Log’: The software automatically keeps track of all the components used in the design, creating a parts list that can be exported for easy ordering. Shareable Designs: Users can share their 10/22 builds with friends and fellow enthusiasts online. Why Aurora Solar? A Surprising Pivot It seems like a strange turn for a solar company to delve into the firearms world, but Aurora Solar sees a logical connection. “At our core, we’re about visual design and complex component integration,” says Davidson. “Whether it's solar panels on a roof or aftermarket parts on a rifle, the challenges are similar. Plus, our rendering engine is really good – it can handle a lot of detail.” Aurora Solar isn't trying to become a firearms company. They’re offering their design software as a service to the 10/22 community. “We see this as a way to expand the reach of our technology and demonstrate its versatility,” explains Davidson. “And honestly, it’s been a fun project for our team.” Availability and Pricing The Ruger 10/22 Design Tool is currently in beta testing and is available as a subscription add-on to existing Aurora Solar accounts. Pricing starts at $99/month. Aurora Solar is planning a public launch in early 2024, with a free trial available. A dedicated website, [hypothetical website address], will showcase examples of 10/22 builds created using the software. The company is also actively seeking partnerships with aftermarket 10/22 parts manufacturers to expand the component library and ensure compatibility. “We want to be the go-to tool for anyone building or customizing a Ruger 10/22,” says Davidson. “We think we’re onto something big.” About Aurora Solar Aurora Solar is the leading provider of remote solar design and sales software.
